Leather Luggage Straps for Classic Cars (Morgan and MG specialists)
Classic cars deserve beautiful straps and these are perfect! Made from good strong veg tan leather, finished in a range of classic colours and fitted with solid brass buckles - they look just right.
I even supply them with a standard size cross strap to help stop the main straps from moving if you are carrying lightweight luggage like picnic baskets. Generally, a cross strap isn't necessary (and in fact won't work) as most good racks are fitted with lugs to thread the straps through. Please ensure you get the correct width strap for your lugs - always measure the lug to ensure you can thread the leather strap through it.
If your rack doesn't have lugs then go for the widest strap you can get as the weight of the luggage and the width of the straps combine to create friction which prevents the load from shifting.
My most popular straps are luggage straps for both Morgan and MG cars, but I'll also make battery box straps, wing mirror straps, spare wheel straps, dicky seat straps - in fact there isn't much I haven't made over the years.
Because the leather quality is excellent, I'm happy to leave them natural and simply treat with neatsfoot oil or hand dye in either Dark Brown or Saddle Tan. Please check my listings for sizes.
NOTE: Leather is a natural material. No matter how hard we try, colours will always vary slightly between hides. Some will be lighter and others darker. That is how it is...
Strap lengths can be extended with 'extender straps' up to 75" or even longer by negotiation. I might just have exactly what you need in stock or I'm happy to make to order if required.
Just so you know: I make all kinds of straps for all kinds of classic British cars including Hillman, Riley, Wolseley, Alvis, Bristol, TVR, Humber, Triumph, Austin Healey, Napier, Allard, De Lorean (built in Northern Ireland), Lanchester, Ginetta, Marcos, Frazer Nash, Jensen, Jowett, Albion, Lea Francis, Lagonda, Rover, Armstrong Sidley, Talbot, Riley - which ones did I miss?
I've even made some for a Fiat 500, a Mazda MX-5 and an Abarth 124 Spider!
