Custom made hand tooled straps have always been one of my favourite things to make. I like musicians and I regularly get impromptu (and incredible) jam sessions in my workshop as the guys are waiting for new straps to be made. I've even been treated to an solo concert on a hurdy-gurdy - thanks Geoff!
I digress - This is a two inch wide heavily hand-tooled guitar strap made from 52inches (132cms) of supple 3-3.5mm thick leather. It has three button slots spaced at approximately 44" 46" & 48" at the tail end and a single button slot at the head. It has been topstitched (stitched around the edge) in natural coloured heavy harness thread to minimise stretching.
I have made and sold literally hundreds of these straps over the years and know they give excellent service.
These particular straps are a favourite with acoustic guitarists as they are lightweight, supple and very strong. The tooling is applied very carefully with a hand tool and a blunt instrument (unmusical but effective!). The strap is then hand dyed, finished with a wax polish and the button holes punched. If you use strap locks do let me know (add a note in the text box provided when you place your order) and I'll glady make the button holes a tad bigger for you.
I do offer optional hand-tooled personalisation for this strap but it means losing some of the hand tooled decoration. In my opinion it is best suited to initials rather than a long name.
